PAC Meeting, Monday, October 7, 2013 – 6:00 p.m.
Treasurer’s Report: Current Balance: $10,804. Funds have been set aside for the $100 teacher reimbursement for education supplies.
Fall Student Appreciation: Each child received a snack of fish crackers. Potential food allergy issues were brought to P.A.C.’s attention — in the future P.A.C will contact school nurse for an approved snack.
“New Math”: Mrs. Czech provided information about the new math program implemented at FES this year. Below is the presentation she provided about this topic.
Math Expressions – Parent Information
Paper Recycling Drive: Three very full dumpsters were collected. The amount of money received is not yet available. As a reminder, the funds made from this will be set aside for the nature center. A big THANK YOU to John Seegers for always helping us pack down the paper in the dumpsters.
AVON: Orders are coming in and Erin Lenhardt is organizing volunteers to help her out. It was brought to P.A.C’s attention that a parent was upset about the stapled section of the Avon book that contained women’s undergarments. P.A.C is going to check into whether or not this section can be removed from the book for next year’s sales. This is an issue that has been brought up previously.
Conferences: P.A.C will provide a meal for the teachers during P/T conferences on November 6 and 7. Volunteers that signed up to provide donations will receive an email from Michelle Wagner about two weeks prior to the conference to coordinate such donations.
Cookie Dough Fundraiser: This fundraiser is scheduled to begin on Friday, November 15, 2013. The purchased cookie dough will be distributed on December 12, 2013.
Teacher Wish List: P.A.C. will have a table set up in the lobby during P/T conferences to display the teachers’ wish list (this list contains items that teachers would appreciate being donated to their classroom, possibly as a Christmas gift). The wish list binder will then be located in the main office all year long. Sharon Lillge volunteered to be the Chairperson for the Teacher Wish List. THANK YOU Sharon!!
Teacher Requests: None at this time. On 10/7, the teachers received information from P.A.C. about the gift of $100 reimbursement for education supplies. Our new teachers also received a check for an extra $100 to give their classrooms a good start. Welcome to Freedom Elementary!
New Business: It was noted that there is a piece of playground equipment on the 1st/2nd grade playground that children cannot reach and could be a potential safety issue. Per Mrs. Czech’s suggestion, Connie Wheeler is going to check with insurance and the District to possibly add stepping stools (approved playground equipment similar to what is on the smaller children’s playground) to help with this.
It was also noted that generally the toys in the smaller children’s sandbox are usually broken. Heather Phillip will check into items P.A.C. could possibly purchase that are be more durable.
Meeting notes recorded by Carolee Baumgart, P.A.C. Vice President
