PAC Meeting Notes for Monday, November 4, 2013
Treasurer’s Report: Current balance: $15,756.95. Approximately $6,000 is designated for the Nature Center.
Committee Sign-up: Erin Lenhart agreed to be Chairperson for the Spring Student Appreciation. Cindy Taft will chair the Sock Hop. Carolee Baumgart for the 5th Grade Celebration, and Wendy Cropsey for Family Fun Night. We have all chairperson positions filled. Thank you volunteers! If you would like to be on their committee, please call or email Amy Lahay and she will get their information to you.
Sock Hop: – The sock hop is scheduled for February 7, 2014. Cindy Taft agreed to be the Chairperson along with help from Loralee Olson-Arcand. Thank you!
Parent/Teacher Conference meals. PAC will provide a meal for the teachers during P/T conferences on November 6 and 7.
Teacher Wish List: PAC will have a table set up in the lobby during P/T conferences to display the teachers’ wish list (this list contains items that teachers would appreciate being donated to their classroom, possibly as a Christmas gift). The wish list binder will then be located in the main office all year long. Sharon Lillge is the Chairperson for the Teacher Wish List.
AVON Update: The AVON fundraiser made a profit of $4,437.24! The following considerations were discussed to possibly save/make more money next year: no packets for the staff (there is a charge for each packet) and instead keep one in the break room, use our own envelopes (AVON charges us for the envelopes the students use to return order forms back to school) and/or possibly moving the cookie fundraiser earlier and the AVON fundraiser later to capitalize on the AVON holiday items.
Cookie Fundraiser: The information for this fundraiser has been sent home with the children.
Paper Recycling Update: We made $561 on the last paper recycling drive. The next recycling drive is after Christmas. As a reminder, the funds earned from this are being set aside for the Nature Center.
Artist in Residence: Mrs. Rudolph presented a request and shared several ideas for this year’s Artist in Residence. We voted to accept request. Mrs. Rudolph is going to look further into a few artists and will report back to PAC on a possible cost.
PAC is going to work on a vision for the Artist in Residence Program for the future.
Teacher Requests: None at this time.
New Business/Updates: A request from Mrs. Fox was on hold from last year as more information was needed. She asked for centrally located bins to be put out in the playground for the children to put balls and toys away. Mrs. Fox had teachers vote on whether or not they wanted these bins and a majority voted in favor of these bins. Mrs. Fox is getting quotes for bins.
Heather Phillip was looking into more durable toys for the smaller children’s sandbox. She will present her findings at a future meeting.
Connie Wheeler provided an update on the possibility of adding stepping stools to help the children reach a piece of equipment on the playground. If the District and insurance approve, Connie will look into the price of these stepping stools.
A new event that PAC could consider for next year was discussed. This event would be a Santa Shop where the children could come in and with the assistance of volunteers, purchase small gifts (probably under $5.00) for their family or friends. This would not be a fundraiser, but another way for PAC to provide a fun “service” to the students. We need to make sure this is not going to take away from anything the school store does for Christmas gifts. Amy Lahay will try to gather more info on this.
Connie Wheeler is the Chairperson for collecting codes for the Kellogg free book offer. This is another way we could help the Guided Reading Program. Information on this will be sent home soon.
