PAC Meeting
Monday, May 19, 2014 ~ 6:00 p.m. ~ Art Room
PAC decided to have another short meeting before the school year ended to finalize a few decisions.
Update on end of year Recognitions: Besides the end of year recognitions that we approved at the last meeting, a motion was made and approved for the following gifts of recognition: Mrs. Czech (retiring) and the Honor Society students that helped with babysitting during the P.A.C. meetings. Connie Wheeler volunteered to pick up the gift cards.
Update for Treasurers Report: PAC is still planning on carrying over approximately $3500 for next year. Connie Wheeler reported that after last month’s meeting and finalizing some numbers, we still have just over $9000 to donate.
Additional Business: Sharon Lillgie is on a committee working towards an effort to move recess before lunch. She cited many advantages to this and mentioned other school districts who have tried it and were very excited by the results. We encourage anyone who has questions regarding this to Google it and you may be surprised how much information is out there. Kevin Kilstofte organized the committee consisting of himself, Mrs. Czech, several teachers, playground supervisors and parents. Sharon was looking for possible support from P.A.C. if any funds would be needed for efforts around this change (such as potential coat hooks on the lower level). A motion was made and approved that P.A.C. will back these efforts assuming costs would not add up to very much.
Teacher Requests: After another lengthy discussion, a motion was made and all of the following teacher requests were approved:
Mrs. DeGroot request: New Sharpie markers for enrichment class: $50.88
Mrs. Anderson gym shoe organizers: $45 each for the five kindergarten teachers: $225 total
Mrs. Zabel: Request for Interactive E-Books to be used by all grade levels: $3000.
Guided Reading Program: Non-fiction books to help all grade levels with Science and Social Studies: $3000.
Mrs. Kathy Lorge: New theater lighting for FES Gym: $3,000.
