PAC Meeting Agenda for Monday, September 8, 2014 ~ 6:00 ~ Art Room
Welcome Back and Introductions. P.A.C. welcomed our new principal, Mrs. Lipsey and provided her with a gift of some Freedom clothing.
Committee Sign-Up. Sign-up sheets for the committees for the 2014-2015 school year were passed around. We are still looking for a chairperson for the Staff Book Fair, Artist-in-Residence, 5th Grade Celebration, PAC table at School Open House (August 2015) and Teacher Wish List.
Treasurer’s Report. The current balance is $15,101.39, however, we need to make payment for the donation to the improved board walk (approximately $6,000) and also $3,000 is set aside for new lighting in gymnasium. The shoe racks for Kindergarten arrived damaged so the company gave them to us for free. John Seegers, head custodian, fixed them. Mr. Riesterer no longer needed the kidney shaped table we found on Craig’s List. So, those are two expenses we no longer have to pay out. Mrs. DeGroot gave us receipt for classroom markers that we approved last year for just under $45. We will reimburse her.
PAC Meeting Dates for 2014-2015 School Year. October 6, November 3, January 5, February 2, March 2, April 13 and May 4.
Nature Center Update. The update to the boardwalk was completed by Travis Westemeier, Boy Scout! He did a fabulous job. Please take time to check it out! He extended the boardwalk approximately 3 times the length of the current boardwalk.
Teacher Gifts/New Teachers. Motions were made and approved to provide the following:
-Each teacher will receive a $100 reimbursement for educational supplies.
-Any teacher that is moved to a new grade will receive an additional $100 reimbursement for educational supplies.
-Any new teacher will receive an additional $100 reimbursement for educational supplies.
October Staff Meeting. P.A.C. officers will attend the teacher’s October staff meeting to provide information for their $100 gifts and ice cream sundaes.
Paper Recycling. Paper recycling dates are set for the week of September 22 and October 6. The group had discussions around what this money should be designated for. An idea being looked into is a pavilion for the nature center. It would provide shade for the outdoor classroom and hopefully that area could still be used on a rainy day if teachers had plans to go out there. Many times our YMCA classes have to be cancelled due to rain. We also discussed rubber matting for the playgrounds. Mulch seems to be a constant cost for the school and a consistent problem according to the playground supervisors. Michelle Graf volunteered to look into costs for the rubber matting and Meghan Grembon volunteered to look into costs for different pavilions.
Fall Student Appreciation. Possibly on October 3 (October 1 & 2 for PreK). A motion was made and passed for Erin Lenhardt to obtain water bottles with PAC logo and FES logo for each student to celebrate our four new Water Bottle Fountains (two of which PAC donated).
AVON Fundraiser. Erin Lenhardt has organized this year’s Avon fundraiser which is set for September 26 through October 10. Orders will be delivered on November 4th during parent/teacher conferences.
Cookie Dough Fundraiser. Michelle Gloudemans will be coordinating this fundraiser. No dates are set yet.
Parent/Teacher Conference meals. P.A.C. will be providing meals for the teachers during the parent/teacher conferences for November 5 & 6. Michelle Wagner will be emailing parents from the Helping Hands list to coordinate the meals.
Helping Hands list. Lisa Clemens volunteered to assemble this year’s list.
Teacher Requests/New Business.
There have been requests in the past for storage sheds outside for balls and other outdoor items. Mrs. Lipsey proposed idea to ask high school shop class to make them and PAC would pay cost of materials. Sara Runyon volunteered to check with the shop class.
P.A.C. voted and approved to pay for shipping tape that Stephanie Piepenburg purchased for $12.18 for the office from P.A.C. She found a great deal at Office Max.
MAAPS – The Middle School parent group is looking for more parents members. They meet on the 2nd Monday each month in FHS library at 5:00 pm.
Family Fun Night – The carnival was successful last year so P.A.C. voted to do a carnival again this year on April 10. Wendy Cropsey will chair this event.
Mrs. Rudolph has some extra chicken wire fish forms left over from last year’s Artist in Residence. She proposed PAC members decorate these fish and she will display them somewhere in the school. Mrs. Lipsey and Mrs. Rudolph will discuss if this is doable and if so, where to display them.
Free babysitting is provided by Freedom High School National Honor Society students during the meeting.
