PAC Meeting Minutes for Monday, November 16, 2015 ~ 6:00p.m.~Art Room

News from Mrs. Lipsey–Mrs. Lipsey asked if there was feedback from the recent PBS assembly. The students receive Irish Best tickets for positive behavior that are used in raffles. They had a Minute to Win it game which the kids enjoyed. The next assembly will be in January.  She is in the process of hiring a new guidance counselor. The parent participation at the conferences was great. It was in the high 90s.

Treasurer’s report–$11,694.96 was the last balance. We received a check for $1082.06 from Ben Nowak (Eagle Scout who worked on landscaping project). He was able to come under budget by receiving materials at cost from vendors and getting family and friends to help. $108.93 was spent on Student Appreciation Day. $3500 is set aside for teacher reimbursements.

Paper recycling drive–Three bins were collected for a total of $504.  $25 was spent on advertising in the paper for a profit of $479. The next paper drive will be December 21st-January 4th.

Avon–*113 families and 5 staff participated. There were *216 individual customer orders and 17 online orders. The profit from the fundraiser was *$3,349.02.  This is about $200 less than the previous year.

Cookie dough fundraiser–This was our most profitable fundraiser to date! Sales were approximately $32,500 with PAC receiving about $16,250 in profit. The classrooms with the highest sales will be receiving a pizza party in the upcoming weeks. Those classrooms are:  Mrs. Wilson, Mrs. Presteen, Mrs. Culotta and Mrs. Degroot (Tue/Thu). Delivery will be Dec. 9th.  If there are any students who sold 3 or 5 items and did not receive the Minon key chain or stuffed animal, they will be available at pick up. Due to storage issues, items that are not picked up will be donated to Freedom Food Pantry. A reminder flyer will be sent home.

Parent teacher conference meals–Michelle Wagner coordinated the meal sign up. We received several “thank you” cards and verbal comments from the staff. They were very appreciative of the food.

Teacher Wish List–Cindy Taft consolidated all of the teacher wish list sheets into one master list. She had a table set up at conferences. She received a lot of positive feedback. There will be copies available at the Holiday Shop. The list is online at  We will no longer have a binder in the office, but extra sheets are in the PAC mailbox if needed.

Survey Summary–Survey results were passed out. There were positive comments and suggestions that will be discussed at future meetings. We will be reviewing reimbursements guidelines at a future meeting to clarify any confusion. We discussed how to make information about PAC activities available to teachers.

Artist in Residence–Mrs. Rudolph was unable to make meeting but prior to meeting stated she has been in contact with a few potential artists to get info regarding cost/timing. Nothing has been set up yet. Any suggestions for possible presenters are always encouraged.

Holiday gift shop–Amy Lahay is coordinating the shop which will take place on Friday, December 4th 3:30-6, and Saturday, December 5th 9-12. The Honor Art Society, National Honor Society and Girl Scouts have been contacted to help the students shop. Parent volunteers will be needed for set up and cashiering.

Sock Hop–The Sock Hop will be Feb. 5th. Cindy Taft will be coordinating. It is still in the planning stage. We discussed making some of the cotton candy ahead of time. Volunteers will be needed to help with the dance.

Brain Bowl—Connie Wheeler is coordinating. Information will be sent home around Jan 12th. The tentative dates are: pledges due Jan 29th, testing to occur Feb. 2-3rd, money due on Feb. 29th. We are still in the beginning planning phases so dates may change. There was a discussion regarding incentive prizes. More information will be coming.

Plastic bag recycling–Magnets and flyer were sent home with students. There are 2 bins in the front lobby. The recycling will run through April 15th. Sandy Lezotte is taking the plastic to the drop off centers and sending our totals to Trex.

Teacher requests–19 teachers used some of their $100 reimbursements at the book fair. A few reimbursement requests were given to Connie. There were 9 specials that requested pencil sharpeners in addition to the ones from last month. We will order them.

New business–There was no new business.

The next PAC meeting is on January 18, 2016 at 6:00pm  in Room 22 (Art room). Free babysitting is provided by the Freedom High School National Honor Society.  Please come join us!
